this is a rant about kpop because SHINee won today and I have emotions.

okay so i get asked a lot why i love kpop so much and i've never really had a very good answer because its hard to put into words, but today just managed to display so clearly what it is i love about kpop so much...and well i've kind of been crying all day because of it. so, with much ranting about how proud i am... here is why i love kpop.
what im about to say goes for pretty much all artists in kpop.. this is just a shining (heh) example...and has also caused me to cry a lot today.
Today, a band that has been together for 5 years and were trainee's for years before that on their 2000th day together won best artist of 2013. which is pretty insane in its self, regardless of the fact that it was a goal of theirs for years,and that they won it exactly 5 years after they won best new male group (the same day and everything) and there they were the five shining boys of shinee and I cant say that i've ever been more proud of them.
but here's why it's different.
of course everyone when they win an award is greatful. They have a thankyou speach and they may cry and they are thankful. and i love that.
but today I saw a leader who wasn't even bothering to hide the fact that he didnt think he and his group were going to win, and was ready to hide his dissapointment...and who still couldnt believe it after their name had been called and had to be pulled out of his chair by a friend.
I saw those five idiots skip onto the stage... looking like they couldnt believe it was real. holding hands and skipping.
then our leader was at a loss for words... along with the rest of the group..and you saw the realisation slowly sink in... they had done it... they had achived this goal they had had for the longest time... and they didnt believe it... amd they were all crying... so much crying.... even the baby of the group...who is known for his lack of crying... i think its his first time ever crying on stage... and Minho just broke down when usually he is the one comforting his brothers, key and jong well... they are known for their crying...
but again back to our leader... he just kept bowing... he didnt know what to doo, you could see in his face that he just didnt believe it..and there was this one point where he was just stood bowing 90 degrees for around 2 minutes because thats all he had left to do, he had cried and hugged his brothers and said thank you and sorry and he just bowed, while his members cried.
and they all just kept on saying sorry, to us... saying they would become bettter and that they didnt deserve the award and it just hurt seeing them because there is no one i can think of that deserved that award more, they have come soo far in 5 years and worked so hard and were always slightly below everyone... they have had so many hardships but they still come back every time fighting hard...and yet still they didn't think they deserved the award.
key even said that in his speach... he was saying thankyou but then he just broke down and took it back saying he wasn't sure if they even deserved it.
And then exo ran on... most of them crying and they all just held eachother... friends proud of friends and bandmates just blown away.
And i think that explains it so well... Because in kpop our artists work so hard but they dont resent that... they dont complain... they say they'll work harder..for us... and they are always so humble.... like shinee, or big bang or super junior... they stay humble and in love with their fans.
but it's not just that
which brings me on to the other thing that happened today
VIXX's new teasers came out.
Two of them. One clean the other R rated... for their new Voodoo concept/ album they have coming out. And this is the other reason why I love kpop so much. Now vixx have had 5 singles out this year... they have all interlinked.. along with the five singles they have had three ep's and one repackeged mini album and voodoo will be their first full length album, set to be out later this month. they have had dark concepts and cute consepts and have had to look like vampires and dapper young men and lil fuckin cuties. They have had spot on choreo and outstanding vocals which are always live.... Ravi has written lyrics for at least one song in everything and pretty much always rights his own raps, Hakyeon has a lot of say with choreo and actually choreographed one of the most iconic vixx dances to date the "smug dance" from you're impressive. they on top of that have gone on a world tour filmed MTV diary filmed VIXX TV and gone to ordinary scheduals... which usually consist of around 6-8 like mini concerts, fanmeets, radio shows, interviews, whatever you name it they're probably doing it at some point in the week.
And they do all that... and they're a fucking rookie group. Starlight is a tiny fandom... VIXX are babies and get nowhere near the recognition they deserve... yet still they always fucking bring it...and work so damn hard... and it's just amazing... they get around 2-3 hours of sleep a night and had to dress up as women and sing on a tv show to get a day off.. (okay so it was more if you do it you'll get a day off than do this if you ever want a day off again) But it's crazy and they are super goood and the teasers look amazing and I am supper excited for whats going to happen and I have like thousand theories and am just really excited about them and the rest of the new album because if its like Jekyl the whole album will fit with the concept...which is exciting and makes me wonder where their newest single only u will fit in...
so yes... that is the second reason... of many.... but it's because kpop artists work so hard... but are still all like shinee when they win something... maybe not as extream as shinee, but they all sure do have to work as hard...and yes i know i've made it sound like i think vixx work like super extra hard...and in a way i do... but its not the amount of work they do... it's just how much they havee done year for a rookie group...or really any group..the only group I cant think of who has done more is SHINee because they released like 4 korean and 5 japanese singles and ep's/albums to match... which is crazy.
so yes, they all work super hard and are super dedicated and it must be so hard.... but they are just such sweethearts...and no not all of them... but the ones I love are.... like just they are sweet young men and women who are trying their best to do themselves and their fans proud and their fans mean an awful lot to them and thats just special..and I adore it
annd you can tell their fans mean a lot... like i've said before about how they worry about their health and everything... but it's more than that... like when they're away from korea performing in say... japan... they will be SO stoked to be in a different country and just you know being their lovely selves and being wonderful and thankful and loving and just ugh... but then llike at the end they'll nearly always ask their fans back home to wait for them because they'll be home soon...and thats just... Special...
Ugh I could go on for a long time... because kpop is special and I really hope that even if it becomes more westernised it will still keep that loving family like feel it has now. I hope it wont change the type of idols they have... because from SHINHWA to Seventeen they are good kids doing what they love. and that makes me happy (and cry a lot...like all the time)
